Other News

Every time anyone orders from Amazon it is possible to designate a charity to receive the proceeds from each purchase.  Designate St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church, Laytonsville as the recipient of these proceeds. It is through Amazon Smile; anyone can designate St. Bartholomew’s as the preferred charity.  You can also use the Amazon link here on this webpage. Pass this information to family and friends!

Our study of the Book of Revelation is complete; we are now moving onto not a Bible study but a study of the Bible.  We will be using the following book: ‘Know How We Got Our Bible’ by Ryan M. Reeves and Charles E. Hill, Edited by Justin S. Holcomb. This study will begin on Tuesday morning, November 10th at 10:00 am.  The study will be twice weekly, as before, Tuesday and Thursday morning at 10:00 am.

Advent is on the way, beginning Sunday, November 29th.

Advent calendar posters have been ordered; some have already been given out this past Sunday, the rest will be delivered in person.  Advent Word Posters have also been ordered for families with children and will be put into an Advent kit for each family; there are spaces for words, drawings, etc.
As the Vestry works toward safely gathering inside,  please be patient with the process.  There are many things to consider, not only social distancing.

2-hour Advent retreat will also be offered on Saturday December 11th from 10:00-Noon via Zoom, as it is still too risky to gather in person in the Undercroft.  Supplies will be given to all who sign up.

*Our next Regathering Eucharist Service will take place in our Memorial Labyrinth Garden on Sunday, November 22nd, at 10:30 A.M.  If you would like to attend, we request that you respond by this coming Wednesday (Nov.18th).  Please respond by email to  stbartschurch2@verizon.net, to reserve seats letting us know the number of people attending and sitting together in your household. If there is information we should take into consideration, when completing the seating plan, please provide that information. An example is that some walkers have built in chairs.
If for any reason you cannot email to reserve a seat(s), please call Nancy Row at 301-674-2918 by Wednesday to reserve seating.

On Friday, November 20th, you will receive an email confirming your attendance with a seating plan reflecting the location of your reserved seat(s).  Special instructions on how to easily enter the garden, along with the weekly bulletin and other information on what to expect during the service, will be included.
