Please allow me to introduce our May Parishioner of the Month, Brian Doss! Pictured above is the Doss family. From left is his wife, Kate and 6-year-old Natalie. Brian is holding 3-year-old Charlotte!  Baby #3 is expected in mid-May!

As one of our newest members to St. Bartholomew’s, Brian and his family have been attending since last November.  According to Brian, the deciding factor in choosing our church was the strong focus on children’s programs.  He loves the friendliness of our little church, our history and strong Sunday School program, as well as the coffee hour after our 10:30 service where we all get a chance to mingle and socialize with one another.

Brian is originally from New York and has lived in Maryland for about 14 years.  He and his wife, Kate and the girls live in Gaithersburg.  Between his job as a government analyst and family life, he still finds time to volunteer with a non-profit organization called the Sandy Hook Promise (www.sandyhookpromise.org)  He is also attending part time school to enhance his skills in the field of accounting/finance.

In his spare time, he likes to listen to a variety of music, from Disney (that’s what having children will do for you!) to U2, Allison Krause, Coleman Hawkins and Vince Gill!

With a new “Doss” arrival in May, there will be no time this year for a full-blown family vacation, so they plan to spend long weekends at home and possibly do more of one of their favorite things — visiting local parks.

As a child, Brian wanted to grow up to be a firefighter.  Although not choosing that path, he was able to be a part-time EMT for 5 years.

Favorite Quote: “There is never a wrong time to do the right thing”

When asked what advice he would give to his 18-year-old self —-

Always be respectful but be bold!
