Welcome to July Featured Parishioner Of The Month, Krista Hutzell!
Written by Betsy Taylor
Hello to everyone and welcome to Summer! I hope you all are enjoying our “Featured” parishioners each month. Please feel free to look back at the archived ones from earlier this year. We sure have some fascinating people in our church! This month I am a little behind on my duties, but we are now ready to show our JULY Parishioner.
It is my pleasure to introduce to you our July Parishioner of the Month, Krista Hutzell. Pictured above from left to right in the back is Krista’s wife, Traci, Krista, her dad and mom, Michael & Carol. In the front row are her 2 sisters, Jennifer & Angie and her niece & nephews!
Krista met her wife in 2014 while attending a friend’s wedding, and they were married in October 2016.
Born in Athens, Greece, she spent most of her childhood in Alice Springs, Australia; San Antonio, Texas, and eventually landing in Poolesville, Maryland. She graduated from Towson University with a degree in Kinesiology (look it up – I know I had to!)
After graduating from college, she thought she might want to be a Physical Education teacher, but her interest turned more to the world of fighting crime than teaching. Everyone should feel safer in Montgomery County due in part to Krista. She is a 15-year veteran Montgomery County detective.
Krista has been a faithful attendee at our 9:00 am service since early 2016, and her favorite thing about our church is the small community feel. She has been a vestry member since the beginning of this year.
Her favorite quote: “Don’t try to be perfect. Just try to be better than you were yesterday.” (Unknown)
She and her wife, Traci, will be going to Maine on their next vacation, stopping to visit family members on the way.
(Krista & I share a similar philosophy) — the advice today she would give to her 18 year-old self would be: “Don’t stress. Everything works out for a reason.” I truly believe that also!
