Announcements for This Week!

Happenings for week prior to September 19, 2021

We celebrated the start of the program year last Sunday at our Welcome Home service with joy.  It was a pleasure to see longtime friends and meet greet visitors.  We are off to a busy start with several new initiatives on the horizon.

On Sunday, September 26, we will honor parishioner Esteban Caballero and his fiancé’ Sally McFadden with a wedding shower at a festive coffee hour following worship.  Please be certain to stop by the parish office this week or next to sign a congratulations card for the happy couple.

On Sunday, October 3, we will honor the Feast of St. Francis with The Blessing of the Animals, an outdoor worship service at 10:30 a.m..  Bring your pets for a blessing.  Please invite your friends and neighbors to join in this happy celebration.

Three additional October events at St. Bart’s include the October 10 Memorial Leaf Dedication (see separate announcement), the October 16-17 Israeli Folk Dance workshop and presentation and an October 24 pumpkin painting party.

We’re busy, busy, busy!  At the same time the several St. Bartholomew’s committees are hard at work continuing the necessary tasks and decisions as we look forward to our bright future.  The Building and Grounds subcommittees tasked with making recommendations about the future use(s) of our rectory and Temperance Hall and the Growth and Outreach Committee meet regularly to carry on their work.  Our Search Committee is making good progress forward completing our congregational vitality study. We regularly hold in-person prayer beads workshops, our parish brochure has been updated and we are on the cusp of launching a sparkling, updated parish website. Music Together with Sonia has begun fall classes. We’re busy, busy, busy!

At a recent meeting I distributed an invitation to the North Montgomery County clergy to bring their congregations to St. Bartholomew’s-sponsored virtual prayer beads-making workshops scheduled in November.  Bishop Chilton profusely complimented our prayer beads ministry and reminded all in attendance that amidst all our busi-ness we must make time for prayer.  Remember, the words of Psalm 127: “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.”
