Altar Flower donations are needed  for all Sundays in June except the 3rd; July 8,15,22; August 5, 19, 26 and September 9, 16. These flowers are provided by people in our church who want to publicly commemorate God’s grace in their lives as they honor loved ones, celebrate anniversaries, or remember those who are with the Lord. To donate flowers, contact Mary Williams, the Parish Administrator, at stbartschurch2@verizon.net or 301-355-7189.

Memorial Garden Update:  All the Armstrong Maples and Blue Spruce trees have now been planted.  This week, the materials for the stone wall has arrived and construction has begun.  We hope to be completed by the end of May, weather permitting.  Completion of the garden will be followed by an unveiling of the memorials on a Sunday sometime in June.  A separate dedication ceremony with invitations will take place, date TBD.

New Slate Roof Update: The vestry approved the contractor for our new slate roof!  Construction will start within the next few weeks and will take approximately four weeks to complete.  Wagner Roofing, an award-winning contractor having done restoration/replacement work for Carter’s Grove Plantation in Williamsburg, the Lincoln Cottage and the Cathedral was selected.

Thank you for supporting me last year in the Olney Relay for Life.  Every single donation – regardless of the amount – has helped the American Cancer Society continue to provide (a) free services to those battling cancer and (b) funds for cancer research.
For years, my family has not had a history of cancer.  As it often happens, things change.  Sadly, we lost two family members to cancer.  On a brighter note, another family member has overcome this horrible disease.  This fundraising event means a great deal to me.  I am captaining a team again this year at the June 9, 2018 Relay for Life at Sherwood High School.  The event starts at4:00pm and concludes at 10:00pm.  The highlight is the luminaria ceremony at 09:00pm, which honors and remembers those with cancer.
